As the Skanska-Ames, a Joint Venture (SAJV), works to improve the I-15 commute, coordinating with other local contractors—especially small, disadvantaged, women-owned and minority-owned businesses—brings rich and diverse perspectives to our projects and keeps us firmly in tune with the pulse of the Southern California community.
SAJV will host several outreach sessions to discuss subcontracting opportunities for the I-15 Express Lanes project. At each session, we will explain the project scope and possible subcontracting packages, and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have about I-15 Express Lanes or SAJV’s role in the project. All interested subcontractors and suppliers are invited to attend.
SAJV knows that that working with a diverse pool of businesses brings valuable depth in perspectives to our projects and keeps us aligned with local Southern California communities. All subcontractors are welcome to bid on packages as they are solicited. As the lead design-build entity on the I-15 project, SAJV will select subcontractors through a transparent bidding process that places the highest emphasis on price, quality, safety and environmental compliance.
Caltrans defines a disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) as one owned by a U.S. citizen or resident alien and who is a member of a socially or economically disadvantaged group, and that owner must meet majority possession and operational control requirements. Further, the business owner and firm must operate within various net worth and annual gross income maximums. Caltrans also certifies small business enterprises (SBEs) as businesses that are independently owned and operated within California by Californians who do not dominate in their field of operation. An SBE must also meet requirements for numbers of employees and gross revenues. Additional certification opportunities exist for disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBEs) as well.
